FAQ
The product
What is hydrocolloid, and does it actually work?
Hydrocolloid is the same absorbent material used in professional wound dressings. On a surfaced spot (a whitehead or a pimple that's come to a head) it draws out fluid, flattens the bump, and seals the area so it can heal. The patch turns white as it absorbs — that's how you know it's working.
Will it work on every kind of breakout?
It works best on spots that have surfaced. It does less for deep, blind, cystic bumps under the skin, and it isn't a treatment for acne as a condition — it's for managing individual spots. We'd rather tell you that up front than have you expect something it can't do.
How is this different from regular pimple patches?
Preset patches come in a few fixed sizes that rarely match your spot. Dotless is a roll — you cut the exact size and shape each blemish needs. You also get far more coverage: a single roll makes hundreds of patches, working out to as little as a few cents each, versus 15–20¢ for typical pre-cut patches.
Using it
How do I use it?
Three steps. Cut a piece slightly larger than the spot. Press it onto clean, dry skin for a few seconds. Peel it off once it turns white, and swap in a fresh cut if needed.
How long do I leave it on?
Most people wear it overnight, or roughly 6–8 hours. You can wear it during the day too.
Can I wear makeup over it?
Yes. It's ultra-thin and matte, so it sits flat under makeup.
Will it stick all night?
It should, as long as you apply it to clean, completely dry skin. Oils, moisturizer, or serum underneath are the usual reason a patch lifts — apply it before those, or wipe the spot dry first.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Hydrocolloid is generally well tolerated and contains no active drug ingredients. If you have a known adhesive allergy, or any doubt, test a small piece first. Dotless is a cosmetic product for external use only and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Sizes
Which size should I get?
All rolls are 2 inches wide; they differ in length. The 5 ft roll makes roughly 500 small patches and is a good starting point. The 12 ft and 16 ft rolls cost only a few dollars more and last considerably longer, which is why most people choose those.
How long does a roll actually last?
It depends on how big you cut. Those counts assume small cuts for single spots — cut larger pieces for breakout zones and a roll won't stretch as far.
Shipping & returns
How much is shipping?
Free on every order, with no minimum. We currently ship within the United States only.

Orders are processed in 1–3 business days and typically arrive 6–10 business days after that. You'll get a tracking number by email once it ships.
What if I don't like it?
Email us within 30 days of delivery and we'll refund you — even if you've opened and used it. You have to be able to try something to know if it works, so an unopened-only policy would be pointless. Details are in our refund policy.
